I have never owned a car.
Climate change is a serious thing, and so is the degradation in quality of life when we pave over public (and private) spaces for the movement and storage of cars. Living in Portland, Oregon, it’s pretty easy to get by on foot, by bike, and/or by transit. On those occasions when a car is the best tool for the job, we have at least three local car-sharing companies that offer hourly rentals. I am heartened to see more and more people going car-free or “car-lite,” for both the environmental and social impacts.
